Kenny Wayne Shepherd Ventura Theater 10/1/2011

This was a great show.   The opener (Guy Martin) was really good and he featured Bryan McCann on saxophone, who owns the local music store in Thousand Oaks, so I’ve probably paid the equivalent of a few months worth of rent at his shop with all the money he’s made off me over the years.   I’ve seen him play since I was a kid and he’s very talented.  I would definitely go see this band again and probably will.

Kenny Wayne’s band was great.   What a line-up.   Chris Layton did a great job on the drums, Riley Osbourn jammed on the keyboards and it was very nice to see Tony Franklin on the fretless bass.   Noah Hunt has one of the best singing voices I’ve ever heard and he sang every song in wonderful fashion.  Despite the adverse acoustic conditions of the Ventura Theater, I think this show sounded pretty darn good.
