John Waite The Canyon Club 12/9/2011

The last time I saw John Waite was back in the late 80s when he was with Bad English opening for Whitesnake- that was a great show.   I had been thinking about going to this one and have heard very positive things about his recent shows, but didn’t actually get a ticket until the last minute.   I showed up a little late- I was told about 10 minutes or so (I missed “Change” and perhaps a few other songs as well).  When I got there. the band was rocking “All Along The Watchtower”.  At that point, I was sad that I missed a second of it.     The next song was “Missing You”, which also sounded excellent (and I’m glad I didn’t miss that- ha ha).   After that, he played some older and newer songs.  There was a really good drum solo and a few pretty heavy tunes.    For the encore, he did a solo version of “When I See You Smile” with a lot of audience participation.    He ended the night with a Babys song.  The real highlight was the extra singer he brought onstage with him- she totally rocked.   I only caught about an hour of the show in total,  but it was great and I am glad I went.
